This is impossible cause I could list movies for days, possibly even weeks... So I'll go by categories in increments of 10. I also won't go on forever and a day about why these are my picks and instead will give you brief descriptions of the stories.

First Category: Based on a true story

First 10 Recommendations:

10. The Imitation Game - This compelling film tells the story of computer scientist Alan Turing, who tries to crack the Enigma code that the Nazis used to provide security for their radio messages during WWII.
9. Catch Me if You Can - Frank Abagnale Jr became an expert in forgery and disguise and managed to cash checks for millions of dollars, acting as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor and a legal prosecutor along the way.
8. A Beautiful Mind - This movie, which tells the story of mathematical prodigy John Forbes Nash Jr, is proof that often there is a fine line between pure genius and madness.
7. Erin Brockovich - Brockovich, without any suitable educational background, gets hired as a lawyer, accidentally stumbles upon a major case of water poisoning that has lead to many cancerous diseases in her town and takes the fight to big business. It’s a truly compelling and interesting tale.
6. Seabiscuit - A wealthy racehorse owner, a boxer-turned-jockey, and a dedicated trainer work together to turn a long-shot horse into victory in Depression-era America in this adaptation of one of the most successful thoroughbreds in American history.
5. Cinderella Man - The story of James Braddock, a supposedly washed-up boxer who came back to become a champion and an inspiration in the 1930s.
4. The Soloist - A newspaper journalist discovers a homeless musical genius and tries to improve his situation.
3. The Perfect Storm - An unusually intense storm pattern catches some commercial fishermen unaware and puts them in mortal danger.
2. Titanic - A seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic. (So this is a cheat because it was romanticized with Jack and Rose who weren't actually passengers on the Titanic but I don't care, it was amazing and for the year it was made it was brilliant with the special effects. I seriously saw it 7 times in the theaters. )

1. Bright Star - The three-year romance between 19th-century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne near the end of his life. Alright, so I am going to briefly go on about this one on top of the brief description but only because it's so great! Though this movie is slow going, it is beautifully done and makes me cry every time I watch it. It isn't overly exciting but I feel that aspect lends more realism to the romance which is what adheres it to your heart.
