This is my list of favorite Youtube channels. I am always looking for more, but I am suuuuper picky and won’t watch anyone who is scum as a person in real life. I also try not to subscribe to too many network channels, but some are so good, I can’t help it.
Wheel of TimeDaniel Greene – I found him while looking up WoT stuff, but he actually does a lot of fantasy genre uploads: reviewing books, explaining them, talking about authors….I love him. Even when he hates something he is still very classy about it and tries to be respectful even when he thinks an author doesn’t deserve his respect (aka Terry Goodkind). UPDATE: He has a green screen now and he gets weird with it. It's pretty awesome.
Nae'Blis – He is a Wheel of Time superfan and his channel is all WoT all the time. He does in-depth dives on characters, time periods, cultures, everything. I love his work so much that I joined his Discord Channel to make sure I never miss an upload.
Dragon Mount - This channel has the largest collection of interviews with Robert Jordan that I have found.
The Dusty Wheel - This is a live call-in talk show about WoT. It was based off the real world community of Theoryland.com and its founder, Matt Hatch, is the host of this channel. Matt was a beta reader for "Towers of Midnight" and "A Memory of Light", and is a member of the Board of Directors for JordanCon. So much great info!
EducationalPBS Eons – I am obsessed with this channel. I learn so much about the “Age of Dinosaurs”, and I feel so smart after watching it!
Philosophy Tube – British philosopher giving away his philosophy degree for free in a fun easy to understand way that is slanted very far to the left, like all good things.
ContraPoints – She is amazing!!! She was also a philosophy major and her videos are so smart and so eye opening…she only uploads once a month and I wish there was more of her. I feel like I really connect with her on a personal level and love the way her mind works.
Cheddar – I learn something every time I watch one of their videos. They cover the most interesting topics and explain things I didn’t even think to question. In five minutes they can explain how an entire business failed in a way that I understand. Time watching their videos is never time wasted.
Crash Course – This is the first youtube channel I fell in love with and it is AMAZING! It is by Hank and John Green and they make learning fun! If you haven’t looked into them, you need to. Entire college courses are explained part by part. They have courses in sociology, computer science, film history, mythology, physics, philosophy, games, economics, U.S. government and politics, astronomy, anatomy & physiology, world history, biology, literature, ecology, chemistry, psychology, and U.S. history…they have book reviews and more…Why waste your brain in front of another sitcom when you can be just as entertained and learn something new?
SciShow – this is another great one from the Green brothers.
FoodFirst We Feast – I mostly watch this channel for Hot Ones which they put out on Thursdays. It’s the show with hot questions and even hotter wings. The host and the celebrity guest eat wings with different sauces that progressively go up on the scoville scale. After each wing, the host asks them questions and it is fun to watch them struggle to answer them with their mouths on fire. Gordon Ramsay was freaking out, but Rachael Ray killed it. You definitely get to know celebrities in a new way with this show.
Good Mythical Morning – I know they do other stuff, but I mainly watch their channel for the taste tests, I love them. Their cereal showdown was my favorite. I tend to side with Rhett over Link in most things.
Binging with Babish - This is a cooking channel where he creates or follows recipes from TV and film...and he does always try them...even the Simpson's grilled crayon sandwich designed by Ralph Wiggum.
Highfalutin' Low Carb - Highfalutin' Low Carb is the weekly web series dedicated to finding and testing the best low carb recipes the internet has to offer. I love his southern sass.
Gaming/Film TV Media
Black Nerd Comedy - I want to be friends with Andre. He is just my kind of person. He talks about Nerd Culture, and Nostalgia featuring Rants, Reviews, Reactions, Recommendations, and Retro 80s, 90s, and 2000s in the world of Pop Culture, Movies, TV, Cartoons, Gaming, Comics and More.
Cinemassacre – I love his old movie reviews with his friends, those are great. I am not a huge fan of his play-throughs because they are just over-saturated with anger (he is the angry video game nerd), but his James and Mike Mondays are pretty good. I love watching them tackle those old NES games!
Shirley Curry – Dubbed “the gaming grandma”, she is the oldest Youtuber I watch. She plays Skyrim and makes up her own stories with her characters as she plays through quests. She is sweet and funny and super cool. Even if you don’t subscribe to her, you should at least watch the
documentary on her.
ToonrificTariq – I subscribed to them because of their video “How to Black”. I love content creators who teach me things and I think he has a great take on cartoons and black culture.
brutalmoose - He covers a lot of different subjects, game reviews and streams, food reviews, and weird old TV show and commercial reviews. He is hilarious!
Let's Game It Out - A gaming let's play channel by some guy named Josh who makes fun-loving videos filled with joy and sarcasm. He specializes in breaking games and makes me laugh so hard!
Pure Entertainment/Misc.
Anthony Padilla – He and a friend started Smosh (Youtube channel) when they were like 14 or 15 and made some really funny videos together. When they sold Smosh and lost content control things went downhill and Anthony left to do his own thing. I heard that Good Mythical Morning now owns Smosh and so it is getting better again, but I haven’t looked into that too much. Anthony is great though. He has this amazing series about interviewing people from different backgrounds and types of employment. It is all about getting to know your fellow humans and being open minded and it is also hilarious. He seriously warms my heart, I love this guy!
Pushing Up Roses – I love watching her Murder She Wrote videos and have started looking into her other stuff. I am never disappointed.
Vlogbrothers – Hank and John are great. They started Crash Course. John writes pretty good books and Hank is even better. ‘Nuff said.
Mark Rober – He studied Mechanical Engineering and worked for NASA. He does really cool weird stuff on his channel, like filling tubs and pools with sand, water beads, and Jello…his experiments are fun and interesting and educational.
Bunny Ears – Macaulay Culkin’s super weird channel. I love him from my childhood and saw him playing the Home Alone games with James from Cinemassacre so I decided to check out his channel. It is weird. It is positive and heartwarming, but usually a little odd. I am into that.
Cobra Kai – A much better sequel to the Karate Kid than any of the movie sequels, this series is due to release season 3 in 2020. The two main actors star again and are producers so this really feels like their baby. Only the first two episodes are free, but watching them will probably make you keen to buy or pirate the rest.
Jacksfilms - I like his YOUR GRAMMAR SUCKS series where he reads aloud comments that have serious grammar issues. The drinking games for those crack me up..
WheezyWaiter - He's not just an average bearded 30 something dude with hundreds of clones. He is my favorite youtuber. He has been doing a series lately where he tries something for thirty days in the name of self improvement, and he has a lot of great funny videos.
DIY/Crafty StuffThe Sorry Girls – DIY to the max. They do room makeovers for other Youtubers, they do thrift flips, and show you how to make all kinds of DIYs from the dollar store - or as cheaply as possible. They upload on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Amandarachlee – Bullet Journaling. I love her doodles! She uploads a new spread each month and other fun stuff in between.
KidsRizza Kids – this is my oldest friend. I have known her since I was born b/c my mom used to babysit for her while she was pregnant with me and we were best friends all through elementary school. She just started this channel recently and is putting out some pretty adorable educational stuff. Love her!
Kids Learning Tube – This channel has taught my son so much that strangers sometimes think he is a genius. I don’t even hate the catchy songs and feel like I am learning stuff too. At the age of four, my son knew all the planets in our solar system, including the dwarf planets, and most of the dwarf planet candidates. He also learned all 50 states and can point them out on a map no problem. He knows a few capitals and can somewhat accurately draw the burrows in NYC. He also knows more countries than I do, and can explain how we digest our food better than me.
Peekaboo Kidz – Even more educational than Kids Learning Tube, but that is because there is more talking and no singing. It easily held my son’s attention though and we learned a lot. Dr. Binocs rocks!
Preschool Prep – These videos are basically animated flash cards. IDK how to explain it better than that. My son started watching them as a toddler and learning to read and do math has been a snap thanks them laying all the groundwork and making it easy.
Cosmic Kids Yoga – This cute show makes yoga fun for kids! Just don’t try it yourself unless you are as flexible as a kid…both Connor and I have hurt ourselves doing this with my son. My son loves it though, and has no problem bending all the ways.
Queer Kid Stuff – LGBTQ+ vids for kids!
