Lead by The Creator and The Dark One
Today we are going to be naming the unnamed adoptables who are too important not to have names. Mostly rulers of nations, full list TBA. Then, after we are done with that, let's move over to the dark side and get some evil plotting in!
Shadowspawn wiki links
Summary:
The Assassination
It was decided that Jadin shall die by Shae sometime before the bonding. Suggestions were:
Kay
Okay, soooo. Zamon's faction is leading an assassination attempt, pointing the figure at the Red Ajah. (Maybe not even one he expected to succeed, but Shae pulls it off?) BT and WT are both picking up the pieces when we hit present day opening status.
Tseia
So I'd say that Zamon planned to do it after the Ceremony, but Atal plans to do it at the Ceremony to foil Zamon (his assassin can die or be captured lol) so Zamon finds that out and has to accelerate his time table, so Shae does it while the BT is on route to the Ceremony.
Shai’tan 😈
Atal discovers Zamon's plot to assassinate Jadin and sets in motion the assassination of Kat, in order to "steal the glory" of eliminating a Tower leader from Zamon. So maybe Atal's group messes with something that puts things in motion before they were supposed to and that is why Jadin gets killed before the bonding? I was imagining it was supposed to happen after the bond for most impact, but then it happened moments before because Atal's group messes with something while trying to steal the glory?
We weren't specific about the ter'angreal that was stolen at the delegation, it could help Shae remain undetected somehow maybe?
Suggestions included:
Gray man ring
Seanchan blood knife
Seanchan blood knife
or there were plenty they didn't know what they did in the 3rd age too so we can make things up
Jules filled in the details:
Jadin is a very capable swordsman. Just by stats alone, he vastly outranks Shae's skills. Same with experience. He has decades of more combat experience than a teenager. So, how then would Shae succeed? Even surprise on his side doesn't feel like enough to tip the scales.
Answer: one of Jadin's primary weaknesses is that he is a good person. He cares about people. If he sees that it is a child attacking him, especially a child he had seen before (prior established plot/history, Jadin had encountered Shae before when he was being abused by his father, "rescued" him and handed him over to the local authorities because the BT is limited in what they can do outside of Caralain) so Jadin recognizes him, realizes he had failed to save this child. That maybe, if he had done more back then, Shae would not have become an assassin that was now after him.
Jadin hesitates, just for a split second, but even one second can be fatal in a fight. Especially since Shae uses poison. All he needs to succeed is a single cut. So Shae gets that one cut but realizes it shouldn't have happened. He's skilled enough to know when he's outmatched amd realizes Jadin had chosen not to defend himself because doing so would have meant killing Shae.

And Jadin's death will therefore be the first one that's ever made him feel...something. It wasn't a clean kill, so Shae starts to question why Jadin had hesitated. Maybe Jadin even told him that it was alright, that it wasn't his fault. Shae makes his escape, knowing Jadin will die from his poisoned blade. He had succeeded in his mission.
Then Julian, alerted to the fighting, arrives to find Jadin dying. Maybe he even sees Shae as he's leaving. Choice between staying with his dying friend or pursuing his killer? Not sure how Julian would decide on that though, but it's an option.
And perhaps Jadin's final request is for Julian to help save Shae? Or at the very least, not to blame Shae for Jadin's death. Because anyone intelligent (and I know Julian is a clever dude) who knows Shae is involved would realize that he's just a tool, not the hand that engineered Jadin's death.
And Julian would need Shae anyways to prove that it wasn't the Reds who killed Jadin (going with the idea that the other assassins with Shae that Jadin did kill carry evidence that points to that).

Other Notes:

Primary suspect will probably depend on who you ask, and how Shae carries it out/the Darkfriends behind it and their plot

Terrac’s/Menethil
Pointing a finger toward the more conservative reds would be one hell of a way to do it though

It would very much cut the legs out from under the conservative reds and would be a really neat road to take Alira down, so I'm personally okay with that as long as we can (eventually) pick up the pieces (because Elaira needs to bond an Asha'man, darn it)
NatGeo
I guess Sana's gonna have to pick up the pieces of this one too haha
Alianora
I would very much enjoy involving Aviva in that mess, though I don't think she'll be very happy.

Also, I'd say Shae probably wouldn't be alone. They sent 4 after Egwene, so I'd imagine there would be others here. I think they could still be blamed because they, above all others, have motive. Even if the means are suspect, that just makes it harder to get consensus
✨Eve✨
Yeah just because they catch/kill assassins, doesn’t tell them automatically who sent them

What comes after, do we just hope someone joins who wants to take on a new M'Hael? And what will it do to the relationship between the Towers?

The War Council of the BT will have to make a replacement. What it means is it will be open as a restricted rank, again, for people who want to submit applications that factor in everything

We still need to decide how the BT will be run in the interim. Personally, I think it might be easiest for the school to be under the two sub-m'hael's and the nation under the War Council until they elect a new one?
The Blight
NatGeo
I think it should still be up around the Mountains of Dhoom
It took like 1000 years for the blight to cross that from AOL to Trolloc Wars
✨Eve✨
Yeah I think the mountains as the edge of the True Blight is good

Zamon's assassination school is somewhere in the Blight

A contest will decide our new creatures from the 4th age.
Adoptable naming is still ongoing.
