My first 10 Recommendations for TV Shows:
10.
Merlin - If you love magic, mythology, and laughing then this show is likely right up your alley! The actors are all pretty great, the story was a bit different from the many other versions I've read or seen throughout my life, and there was decent character development. The special effects are not great but it was a BBC show on a small budget so, in that regard, it wasn't terrible. The relationship between Arthur and Merlin is a great bromance too. Plus there are only 5 short seasons so it is easy to binge watch.
9.
The Musketeers - If you love historical pieces, action, and the 3 Musketeers story then you'll love this show! There are only 3 seasons and 30 total episodes so it is also easy to binge. The characters and stories are great and to this day it is my favorite adaptation of the 3 Musketeers tale. I also loved that they called it The Musketeers cause technically, once D'Artagnan joined, there were 4. It is beautifully shot I feel and the costumes are on point for the period.
8.
The Good Place - If you love Kristen Bell and comedies, this show is for you. It is hilarious and a very interesting take on what comes after death. The characters are both great and hilarious. Janet alone is a gas! This is a great watch if you just want to laugh and be entertained. It's the kind of show you don't take seriously and love that aspect.
7.
Sherlock - Are you a high functioning sociopath?! Well even if you aren't, you still should watch this show! It is clever, entertaining, witty, emotional, and has great mysteries. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are phenomenal! This is another great bromance to watch with some amazing supporting characters. It's also a very short series which makes it very easy to get through.
6.
Psych - "I've heard it both ways.", "Come on son!" and "Wait for it.." are lines I will never forget because of this show! I love everything there is about this show! The cast, the story, the characters, the comedy, the crimes, etc. It is absurd, hysterical but also has great murder mysteries to be solved. This is another epic bromance show(seems to be a theme for this thread... Which, trust me, was unintentional) with a lot of heart and humor.
5.
Arrow - So the DC movies might not be that great, though they've improved with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam!, but this DC show is quite epic! It is a great take on the Superhero The Green Arrow that is gritty, fresh, dark, exciting, thrilling, etc. Again, this show has another great cast that really brings a lot to the table for their characters. There is character development, action, romance, mystery, and more! This show was so good that it paved the way for additional DC superhero shows on the CW such as The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. Though Arrow is by far my favorite and if you liked Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Defenders, etc then I feel you'd like this show as well. Plus this coming season will be it's last so again, could easily binge-watch on Netflix.
4.
Poldark - Another great adaptation on the list, this show is just phenomenal! It is a beautiful period piece based on a man who returns home from war to find that his lands have been neglected, his property in dire need of repair, and is in debt but powers through all of these to the best of his abilities(sorry, I suppose this is mildly spoiler-ish but are learned within the first episode). The characters are relatable, the actors are fantastic, the story has a lot of great heart and has served as great inspiration for writing(especially as Gareth since he's very similar to Dr. Dwight Enys). The costumes, scenery shots, set pieces, props, and music only add to its authenticity and believability of the time period.
3.
Outlander - I never imagined that
Sassanach was something I'd die happy to be called! LOL Outlander is another period piece based on a novel series that is an absolute joy to watch! I am so glad that Eve convinced me to watch this one because it is perfection. I seriously could probably list a million reasons this show is amaze-balls! From the epic story to the brilliantly portrayed characters, musical score, impressive attention to detail realism of the costumes, cultures, props, sets, and scenery of the periods; this show makes you feel transported. One of my favorite aspects is the authentic accents and various languages used in this show. As I said, it is very authentic! You won't find any water bottles or Starbucks cups here!
There is nudity, rape, and some gore BUT considering most here watched Game of Thrones, I am pretty sure this show is quite timid in comparison when concerning these areas. Also, there is wonderful character development, raw/relatable experiences, and emotional relationships. There are also historical events highlighted throughout the show that are portrayed brilliantly! Seriously, just watch it, you will
NOT regret it.
2.
Doctor Who - "Never be Cruel. Never be cowardly. Remember... Hate is always foolish and love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind." "Laugh hard. Run fast. Be Kind." "Love isn't an emotion. It's a promise." If you have not or do not watch Doctor Who: START!!!!!!!! I never thought that a sci-fi show about an alien who could change his/her face while running around in a phone box with, what looks like, a flashy pen would be something that I would fall in love with and yet I did. There is so much to this show but it's biggest draw is the heart of it! There are lines in this show that are carved into my heart until the day I die! It is witty, comedic, dark, sorrowful, dramatic, suspenseful, happy, dynamic, action-packed, scary, silly, light, deep, etc. Seriously, there is so much more to this epic show besides Sci-fi. And Peter Capaldi and David Tennant are god damn bloody geniuses in their individual portrayals of The Doctor. Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston are also very talented actors that played the role well. So go watch it already!!
*drumroll* And my number one pick is...
1.
Lucifer - This is honestly my favorite show to have ever existed in the history of television! It has a perfect cast! Epic one-liners! Crime solving! Tom Ellis(*drools and fans self*)! Comedy! Drama! Suspense! Thrills! Chills! Fun! Romance! Murder! Demons! Angels! The Devil!
Honestly, this show is just great for a billion reasons! But it's biggest positive attribute is you can tell that the cast just really enjoys playing these roles and because of that, the show is that much more enjoyable to experience. They mesh together really well and are able to deliver on all the emotions you want to see as they develop as characters. They learn and they fail, they feel like real people that you honestly want to hang out with and would probably have stories to tell for the rest of your life from that time together. There is heart and wit, there's laughing and crying... It's honestly just a great show and now with a confirmed upcoming 5th and final season, I feel that it hasn't been dragged out or grown tired. It is still fresh and exciting plus if season 5 is even half as good as season 4 then it will be an epic show from start to finish that you'll want to re-binge. Even if you are or aren't a religious person, this show finds a way to touch on the subject in a way that doesn't seem as if you were either forced to endure a lengthy church sermon or are obligated to go to confession for enjoying it. So if you haven't already, go binge watch the hell(haha) out of it on Netflix right NOW!!
That concludes My first 10 Recommendations for TV Shows. I hope you enjoyed it and are adding them all to your watchlists! xD
