Name: Elaira Taravin
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 115 lbs
Build/Complexion: Full-figured/Pale
Eye/Hair Color: Gray-blue/Reddish-gold
Elaira Taravin is a young woman with the look of Andoran nobility to her. Elaira hardly cuts an intimidating image, given her relatively short height for an Andoran. Her full figure and reddish-gold hair, worn loose to below her shoulders, make for a fetching one though (occasionally to her consternation)
Her features continue that refined Andoran look, with full lips and piercing gray-blue eyes. Conspicuously absent is the presence of the Aes Sedai agelessness; having only recently taken the Three Oaths, it has yet to set in and mark her for those in the know. She's often lost in thought, eyes focused on some distant point, giving her an occasional dreamy look, though when prodded she tends to snap back to reality with a smile.
Elaira tends to stick to red clothing, enjoying both the connection to her Ajah and the way it contrasts to her pale complexion. She prefers to adopt local fashions where practical, enjoying the chance to discover the cultures of the world a bit more closely. While on the road she sticks to well-made silk dresses with skirts divided for riding, preferring those that both flatter her figure and remain modest. Elaira avoids wearing jewelry while on the road, though she's often forced to flaunt her Great Serpent ring to prove her rank.
Beneath her detached and helpful exterior, Elaira is a bundle of tightly controlled anxiety. Her life has become much larger and more serious than she ever could have imagined, and relying on others for guidance has become more of a crutch as her scope expanded. Still, with a goal of her own on which to focus, Elaira's making an effort to conquer her worries.

PERSONALITY
To most, Elaira Taravin is kind and thoughtful, if somewhat detached and distracted. She listens thoughtfully while others are speaking, lending an ear when she can and advice on request. She's quick to assist those who need it, often going well out of her way, and tends to have a hard time telling anyone “no.” This is particularly true for other Aes Sedai, to whom she's often eager to hand decisions both easy and difficult.
HISTORY
House Taravin was a crucial supporter for the Trakand monarchy in the years before Tarmon Gaidon. Dyelin Taravain, Elaira's great-great-grandmother, helped to solidify Elayne Trakand's claim to the Lion Throne and House Taravain reaped the benefits of that alliance over the century following the Last Battle. Elaira Taravin was born into a time of great peace and prosperity, the youngest child of House Taravain's High Seat, Dilaeve, and her consort Latian. Her eldest sister, Ilayna, and older brother Deckain were both much older and had inherited much of the responsibilities their House possessed. By comparison, Elaira had a pampered and aimless childhood spent in Caemlyn. Much of her time was spent caught in the wake of Ishara Trakand, the Daughter-Heir. The pair were close in age and where Elaira was an uncomplaining follower Ishara was an incorrigible leader. Ishara's older brother, Gareth, was their occasional protector and constant companion. Adela Traemane joined the group when she arrived in Caemlyn as well; Elaira became fond of the darkly intelligent Traemane, but Ishara's attempts to get closer often left Elaira caught between the two older girls. Still, in most ways Elaira was content.
Still, they all knew those days couldn't last forever. Ishara was always destined to go to Tar Valon for training; the weight of tradition and the history of her bloodline guaranteed it and made it very likely that Ishara would become a full Aes Sedai. And, of course, Gareth was bound to go with her as the First Prince. As the years crept by and the day came closer Elaira knew their lives would inevitably take them on different paths. House Taravin had no history of channelers of either gender, and Elaira herself was just a normal girl. She was, however, mistaken; both Queen Talana and her Aes Sedai advisor knew that they had not one but two girls born with the spark in Caemlyn, and two to send to Tar Valon for training. When the day came that Ishara and Gareth departed for the White Tower, Elaira was sent with them, leaving Adela behind.
Life in the Tower was different, and more difficult, than it had been in Caemlyn. Noble status doesn't amount to much for Aes Sedai in general or Novices in particular, and Elaira was quickly put to work doing chores that she'd never imagined. Still, Elaira was always an agreeable sort and adapted to that quickly. She found the expectations more difficult: never before had people expected much of her, friends aside. The White Tower expected much more from her than she'd thought possible. Pulled along by the strength of those expectations, Elaira committed herself to her studies and found herself raised to Accepted.
The new pressures and responsibilities of the Accepted didn't do much to give Elaira clarity nor objectives of her own. Becoming Aes Sedai was now a certainty because it was expected; Elaira had the strength and talent for it, along with few ideas for her own future. Ishara had settled upon the Green Ajah; Elaira assumed she would continue to follow. The Battle Ajah did not suit her temperament, but it seemed to her the easiest course to follow.
Her path diverged by chance, during a brief return to Caemlyn as an Accepted. Being friends with the Daughter-Heir had its advantages, after all, and Elaira relished the chance to return home. Familiar territory brought with it familiar habits as well. Within days of their return, Ishara had discovered the rumor of a man channeling saidin and causing problems in the streets of Caemlyn. Queen Talana had, of course, sent for the Fire Legion, but Ishara made the decision to find this man anyway. Elaira found herself swept up in the hunt, along with Ishara's brother Gareth trying to make sure they all got out in one piece.
The group managed to uncover the culprit, who turned out to be a young wilder channeling mostly unaware. Elaira learned a few things about herself, that day. The first is that she was able to sense when a mean nearby was channeling the One Power; she'd picked up on it, almost by accident, when they confronted the wilder. The second is that Elaira actually found this work fulfilling. He was lost and alone, and by interceding and pointing him toward the Black Tower they ensured he would find a path. Elaira had always enjoyed helping people but this felt meaningful.
Punishments were heaped out upon all three of them, of course. Elaira herself received lectures and punishments from her parents, Queen Talana, the Mistress of Novices and even the Amyrlin Seat for participating in Ishara's scheme. She'd gotten used to that over her years following Ishara, and this time she accepted them with a smile. She began to study with Red Sisters when they were available, forcing herself to take initiative for her own studies in spite of her own hesitation. When she was finally ready and had passed the final test, she joined the Red Ajah: to hunt, to seek, and to find those who needed guidance that only the Towers could provide.
