Distinguishing Features:
He has an easygoing feel to him and many people feel comfortable talking to him. He is normally quite friendly and always willing to help someone with a task or give them advice. He has a very realistic view of life, not overly optimistic but not noticeably pessimist either. He sees things as they are. He has a strong sense of morals and many respect him for that. He also has a sense of responsibility rivaled by few and if something needs to be done, he will see it done even if he has to do it himself. He always keeps his promises, no matter what it costs him personally. He does have a weakness for small children and will never hesitate to give a child a smile and speak to them, even if it means pausing his schedule for a bit. He believes that children should be respected as much as adults and never treats children like inferiors. Internally, he struggles with his rage on occasion, knowing that if he loses control it would be disastrous. The biggest trigger for his anger is insulting his family, especially if paired with insulting their lowly status in society. He is very proud of both the laborers and the soldiers in his family, and disparaging them boils his blood faster than anything else. Apart from this, his nature and demeanor are identical. His greatest fear is losing control and hurting someone he is close to. His loyalty is hard to earn, but once a person has it, it is theirs for life unless they do something to lose it. He has many acquaintances and few real friends, but his friends are the closest kind. Zolyas would die for any of his friends.
Zolyas was born in Jakanda and grew up there. His family were a mix of miners and soldiers, and as such he learned the ways of both lifestyles. As a young boy he worked in the mines as a messenger, and he learned weapons from his father. In time he came to favor the soldier’s path, and focused his training on fighting. When he was sixteen, he earned his Arafellan curved swords. When he was seventeen, his father gave him his full set of bronze bells.
Zolyas was generally well liked as a child, getting along with most everyone. There was one incident when he lost control of his rage and injured another child. The child in question was a bully, the son of one of the nobles. He and his group of friends often tormented the commoner children. One day when Zolyas was chosen as their target, they insulted his family one too many times and he snapped. To call it a fight would be generous. He only stopped when adults forced them apart. It wasn’t severe enough for him to be exiled, but the shame still followed him, and he did his best to contain the rage from that day forward. The noble children avoided him after that day, and even some of the commoners were afraid. It didn't happen again, and things eventually went back to normal. But the fear never left him, and that incident haunts him to this day. It also gave him a general distrust of nobles, though many noble houses in the Borderlands have proven themselves to be honorable in his eyes.
From a young age, he was inseparable from his best friend, Ramak Vanorin. They triumphed together, got in trouble together, and grew together. They were given their swords on the same day, and it was Ramak’s idea to go to Tar Valon and train with the Warders rather than joining the Arafellan army. Shortly after the two turned eighteen, they packed up and departed. Sadly Ramak was struck down on the road to Tar Valon, and Zolyas pressed on alone.
He had travelled about a week when the wolves found him. He felt strangely at peace with the wolves, and they traveled with him, for which he was grateful. When they moved out of one pack's hunting range, another came to continue with him. He didn’t mind that they avoided human settlements. It just seemed natural to him. As they crossed the wooded area between Arafel and Tar Valon, he started to hear the wolves speak to him and they were sometimes in his dreams. At first he was worried, but one of the wolves, Soft Step, explained what was happening to him. After that, he welcomed it, seeing that this was a good thing. His eyes also changed to gold during this time. When he got within sight of the White Tower and Tar Valon, the wolves fell back, but told him he would be able to find them again.

Books read: All
Additional Notes: Zolyas has not discovered the Wolf Dream at this time, and can’t smell emotions yet. Some of the scenes in his travels are written, but they would likely not involve anyone else. So they’ll be confined to internal flashbacks and possibly journal entries of some kind.
I'm also still debating on his name, as I realized the notable characters from Arafel tend to have names that work in Japanese, so I might change the name one more time.
