There are Dark Friends everywhere, throughout the world in some of the most important institutions and the highest ranks. Each has their own reason for serving the Shadow and yet all have the same goal in mind, free the Dark One from his prison and break the Wheel. Whether that is their end goal or not does not matter, what matters is that each serves a higher purpose for their own reasons and Aenerion is no exception to this. What makes Aenerion particularly dangerous, other than being one of the most powerful living channellers, is that he serves the Shadow not for his own ends but because he believes he must. He is a true believer, he truly believes in the Dark One’s mission to shatter the wheel and unravel the pattern for the pattern only leads to suffering. It took his beloved wife from him, he does not know that the war between the Towers and thus her death stemmed from the actions of the Dark One’s followers, and thus it must all come to an end. In his darkest moments trapped in the bowels of the Black Tower Dark Friends reached out to him and touched his mind, twisting him until the man that emerged was completely and utterly committed to the Dark One.
He serves at the pleasure of the Shadow, Aenerion will kill anyone and anything in pursuit of one goal; the end of the pattern.
Friends
Aenerion does not truly have any friends nor does he pretend he does, he has little interest in others.
Allies
Aenerion only works with those he can manipulate, exploit or trust to serve his mission to free the Dark One. He is an incredibly skilled manipulator making even the most devout followers of both Light and Dark believe he is on their side and that he is their friend when he would sooner kill them in their sleep. Anyone who is useful to him will be his ally for as long as he needs them and no longer, if they survive after that they are lucky.
Enemies
Unlike many Dark Friends Aenerion lacks ambition, he simply wants to free the Dark One and so the only enemies he truly has are those that try to stop him or those that put their own ambitions ahead of their Lord’s great plans… and his enemies rarely survive his attention let alone his wrath.
Lovers
After the death of his beloved wife many believed that Aenerion would never love again and in truth, they are right. He no longer loves but instead he takes pleasure from the flesh and eventually someone might get through to him once more but they would need to be powerful, ruthless and burn with a fire which could rekindle his cold, dead heart… though rumours have begun to circulate of his entanglement with an Aes Sedai of note…
