Shaeva was practically born into slavery, whoever she was before they forced the A’dam around her throat gone like dust in the wind with only the ghosts left behind. Once she was a member of the Blood, the ruling class of Seanchan, yet she barely remembers those days of luxury for her gifts were discovered while she was young and she would not be freed from her captivity (and slavery) again until the battle of Falme. She traded one form of captivity for another when the Aes Sedai removed the A’dam and took her to the White Tower for study. The Aes Sedai wanted to explore the A’dam’s functions and potential while learning what they could of the Seanchan from her and once they learned all they could, and offered her what little freedom the grounds of the Tower afforded, the rebel Aes Sedai present within the Tower moved her on to the Kin who were wary but willing to take in the powerful channeller from Seanchan.
Over the years Shaeva has become a staunch ally to the Aes Sedai and a reliable Kinswoman, training with the Aiel in their arts after ingratiating herself with the order of Far Daries Mar, the Maidens of the Spear, who found her quite amusing and acceptable even for a supposed Wetlander. She settled into a routine, moving between the Aiel and her farmstead, working to save as many Damane from the A’dam as possible and protect those channellers who do not belong in the Tower. Living in the shadow of the Black Tower, however, has changed things over the years…
Friends
Shaeva is an open book, she wears her heart on her sleeve despite adopting many of the Aiel traditions and so befriending her might be seen as easy. She is quick to let people in, quick to trust and slow to lose or forgive, forming deep attachments with anyone that appears to see her. Beneath the sharpness and the short temper Shaeva is a gentle woman who is terrified that people will reject or enslave her, casting her back into the darkest moments of her life so she always doubts the words and gestures of others…
Allies
All channellers have a duty to one another and the world at large, at least that's the way Shaeva sees it and so she works tirelessly to ensure the freedom of those that can touch the One Power creating alliances with individuals who are working towards the same ends. She views all of the Kin as her allies and many of the other institutions in the world, even the Black Tower has the potential to be a staunch ally especially in light of the new M’hael and his right hand. Shaeva is ultimately optimistic believing that they should all work together to protect each other and the world at large, meaning anyone who parrots this view or claims to hold a similar view could easily become her… ally.
Enemies
Shaeva does not have many enemies nor is it easy to become her enemy, the only true way to earn her hatred or wrath is to enslave people for your own benefit or due to ages old superstitions which have lost all meaning. She cares deeply for people and for keeping the peace so her hand is steady despite her incredibly short temper, it is worth noting that she will never trust the Seanchan again as a whole and often individual Seanchan will struggle to earn even her respect let alone her trust.
Lovers
Love has never really been on the cards for Shaeva and thus far she has not even offered much thought to it, she believes she is unworthy of anyone’s affections and thus it is not possible for her. Whoever chooses to love her, or falls in love with her, be it man or woman will have to break through those long held beliefs which the Seanchan conditioned her with and get through her imposters syndrome to convince her that she not only deserves love but that someone could and does love her. Once they get through to her they will find that she is a gentle, passionate woman who has yet to truly find herself, despite her age.
