APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Begin by selecting the blank form code below. Copy/paste into a new thread with the name of your new character as the subject line. While it is not strictly required, we do encourage writing/saving in the word processor of your choice. The internet goblins have feasted on many a piece of literary brilliance and nothing is more frustrating than losing all your hard work. Fill in each section with your information (deleting the explanation as you do so).
Lore note
Please note, with the coming release for Amazon's Wheel of Time TV series adaptation, that the lore for our site is solely based on the novel series by Robert Jordan. While we do not know to what extent the TV series will diverge from the novel series, in the event of any conflicts the events of the novel series function as the basis for A Turning of the Wheel.
Please note:
Characters of any race/gender/sexuality are encouraged!
Name: Please try to be creative and stay away from too many references to canon characters. If you need any help, try the WoT Name Generator!
Age: How old is your character?
Nationality: Country of birth - Characters may be of any nationality, but they must have some reason to be in one of the areas currently open for play!
Place of Birth: Where was your character born?
Place of Residence: Where does your character live now?
Affiliation: What group/people/nation does your character align with?
Rank/Title: Ranks can be found on each individual nation page, all of which can be found HERE. Please note that some ranks in both Towers have special requirements for advancement, so you should pay special attention to those pages if you wish to make a character there.
Members interested in applying for a Restricted rank, (those displayed in red on the individual nations/factions pages), should keep in mind these following:
- Prospective authors should be established on our site, ideally for three months or more. This includes having an active, approved character as well as being active on our site discord.
- Have a solid understanding of both the canon Wheel of Time lore, as well as site lore and storylines.
- Submit a high caliber application and bio.
These ranks may also carry with them further responsibilities and duties, to be discussed with staff before an application is accepted.
One Power Strength: Using the chart HERE, decide your characters overall strength in the Power. If you would like to apply to a character still growing into their power, list both current and maximum distribution overall and for each specific power.
--Take your overall strength (above), multiply by 5. Distribute this number between the Five Powers.--
Air: * | Earth: * | Fire: * | Spirit: * | Water: *
As an example-If you are applying for an Accepted who is still growing into her power, it might look like the following
One Power Strength: 4 (6)
Air: 4 (6) | Earth: 5 (7)| Fire: 2 (4) | Spirit: 6 (8) | Water: 3 (5)
One Power Strength: 4 (6)
Air: 4 (6) | Earth: 5 (7)| Fire: 2 (4) | Spirit: 6 (8) | Water: 3 (5)
Date they were raised to Novice/Soldier:
Date they were raised to Accepted/Dedicated:Date they were raised to Aes Sedai/Asha'man:
Date they were raised to any other rank:
Talents: Found HERE - Keep in mind that if your character has a talent, whether they have discovered it or not, it should impact their life. Instead of life experience affecting a Talent, it's more that the Talent affects the life experience. Talents marked in red are unlikely to be approved unless they mesh well with the concept and include an excellent biography.
Weave Affinities: Many weaves require a certain level of strength in either the One Power or a specific element, but there are some individuals who have certain knacks or a natural ability that allow them to bypass these requirements. These are weave affinities, and they allow characters to be uniquely skilled in certain weaves they otherwise wouldn’t be able to use. A list of weaves can be found HERE. Please only list a weave affinity if it is a vital part of your character. For example, someone who posses the healing weave affinity will most likely want to be village Wise Women or equivalent. Maybe they haven't sparked, but the Talent is there. They may not understand it, but they feel that they should be healing the sick. So if your character has an affinity, be sure to include how it has affected their life and even personality.
Weapon Skills: The guide can be seen HERE. Please keep in mind that you can not be a Jack of all Trades (good at everything). Make your character interesting and give them strengths and weaknesses. Ranking from zero (0) to ten (10) in any or all six areas:
Martial: (Hand to Hand, no weapons) | Hand-Held: (swords, hammers, axes, etc.) | Stave: (quarterstaff, spears, etc.) | Thrown: (knives, daggers, etc.) | Ranged: (bows, etc.) | Mounted: (mainly for horse, but may also apply to raken)
*Note* You do not need training/a score in any area you feel does not apply to your character!
APPEARANCE
You may use a picture you think looks like your character as an avatar. For inspiration check out our character stash thread! If you need assistance, you can send files to The Creator for resizing and posting. If using a celebrity, please list them in the Face Claim.

PERSONALITY
Include a paragraph describing your character’s personality. This is how your character acts. Both their nature (How they are inwardly) and their demeanor (How they come across to others.) Both your nature and demeanor may be the same! A good idea is to put both what your character’s greatest fear is and what they would fight to the death for.
HISTORY
Multiple paragraphs detailing what has happened to your character up until this point and how it has affected them. Be creative, but remember to be realistic and BE DETAILED! If your history is supposed to be "mysterious and unknown" then it can be so in character (ie: if you don't say anything in character then no one can say they know anything about your character or their past without your permission) but as Admins we need to know where your character is coming from and how you'll fit in here and other members might see something that spurs an interesting plot line in finding out a piece of that "lost" history, savvy?
Timeline: Histories can get lengthy and difficult for other members to search out important moments for your character within them. Hence, it is important/helpful to add a brief timeline of events at the end of your history. This allows others to perhaps collaborate with you in their own histories and/or to save them from having to re-read through your history to locate those pivotal pieces. Here is a link to Shareyn Terashima's bio as an example for inspiration: Shareyn
Books Read: As stated in the rules, reading the series is not strictly necessary, though it does help considerably in understanding the background of the site, we only ask because we'd like to know how in depth you understand the lore coming into the site.
