The bulk of the Children are Arms of the Light, and for most they are what is meant by Children of the Light. They are soldiers, commanders, fighters, and peacekeepers who seek to rid the world of darkness. Professional soldiers who have received extensive training, they are one of the most disciplined standing armies in the Dragon Compact, bolstered by volunteers that make up the Winged Guard of Mayene.

They are primarily a heavy cavalry force, though they are also trained in infantry combat. Over the last 10 years, secret efforts have been made to introduce black powder weaponry to the Children, and both infantry and cavalry forces are trained in their use, along with a small but growing collection of trained artillery experts.

Arms of the Light wear a white cloak with a golden sunburst on the left breast. Silver lightning bolts and golden knots are used to indicate relative rank. They typically wear armor and helmets, and generally travel armed.

The Lord Captains of the Children of the Light are the leaders of the Arm of the Light, each commanding a legion comprised of 2,000 soldiers. They are chosen by the Lord Captain Commander from the ranks of the Arm of the Light, often after years of service.
