The Earth Legion focuses on battle and weapon training, much like their White Tower counter-part, the Green Ajah, but this is not their sole purpose.

In the days following Tarmon Gai'don, those Asha'man who were especially skilled in Earth found themselves aiding in reconstruction efforts across the Westlands, especially in Andor. Their particular strength in Earth over the other four Powers made them well suited to clear rubble and debris and to lay stones for roads and buildings alike. This was the birth of the Earth Legion.

This affinity for Earth and it's associated Weaves led many others of the Legion toward the art of weapon crafting, Power-wrought and mundane. By the time construction of the Black Tower was completed, the Earth Legion was known for their skills with the weapons they created, even above and beyond the other Asha'man of newly founded Caralain. When the Seanchan invaded, the Earth Legion evolved further into battle leaders as the natural weapons experts.

Today they continue to serve as tactitians and warriors, aiding the Borderlands in their fight against Shadowspawn and the Blight. In times of emergency they lend aid to those of the Dragon Pact in need, providing disaster relief and reconstruction. Those with the appropriate skills also continue to forge world-class weapons at the Black Tower, creating a valuable good for trade. Power-wrought weapons are common place in the Black Tower as a result of their workings, and there are a handful of weapons that go far beyond traditionally Power-wrought weaponry. In recent years, they have also spear-headed a martial training program open to the general public. Any person who wishes to learn to weaponry and battle, may do so under their tutelage.
